Paul brings a mix of public sector and industry expertise to the APPG AI task force, through his active marketing of AI data trust solutions and his career background in smart city infrastructure, smart mobility and international telecoms.
He has a particular interest in the data governance of citizen centric systems and the evolution of machine learning to provide predictive analytics, behavioural nudging and other customised citizen services.
Paul is currently International Advisor to Sightline Innovation Inc, one of the leading specialist AI suppliers in Canada, with a focus on data trusts. He recently completed four years as Chief Innovation Officer at Digital Greenwich (2014-2018) where he worked on smart city data architecture and standards, chairing an Industry Specification Group at ETSI called City Digital Profile.
He was previously Corporate Development Director at the UK’s Transport Research Laboratory (2007-2014) and he continues to work on smart mobility solutions and autonomous vehicles. In his earlier career he worked in technology management and innovation for BT, Toshiba and Nortel Networks Inc of Canada – where he was Vice President Corporate Development. Paul has an MBA in Marketing from Cass Business School and an MA in Spanish and French from the University of Cambridge.
