Master Victoria McCloud (Dr McCloud) is a Master of the Senior Courts, Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court in London. As a full time judge she tries and case-manages High Court claims in various areas of Queen’s Bench Division civil litigation. Decisions by her have related to serious or complex historic child abuse claims, asbestos related disease claims, personal injury claims of utmost severity, modern slavery, media law, civil procedure, human rights and constitutional law.
She obtained her doctorate in 1993 from Christ Church, Oxford University, in Experimental Psychology, focussing on computational aspects of the human visual system. She is a Chartered Psychologist, qualified in both the UK and the Republic of Ireland. As well as being a full time judge she is a member of Green Templeton College, Oxford University, where she is connected with the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at the Faculty of Law, and her academic field is legal and socio-legal regulation of emergent AI and autonomous technologies.
She has been an editor of Civil Procedure (‘the White Book’) since 2000 and is the author of legal books including the Civil Procedure Handbook, The Surveillance and Intelligence Law Handbook, and Personal Injury Pleadings, as well as academic papers in fields such as surveillance law and the ‘online court’.
